This is a guide to using X-Update's options dialog. To find out what each item does, click on the name of its tab page below:
Automatically select items
These two options let you have items automatically selected when you run X-Update. 'Automatically select "UPDATED" items' automatically marks updated plug-ins or wizards for download (for example, if a plug-in you already have has been updated, it will be automatically selected). Enabling 'Automatically select "NEW" items' will automatically mark any new plug-ins for download.
Note: It is recommended that you enable 'Automatically select "UPDATED" items', since this will replace any outdated (and possibly buggy) plug-ins. You can have both options enabled, but bear in mind that if new items are automatically marked for download, the first time you run X-Update you will have a lot of downloading to do! Also, many 'new' items were created by third-party authors, so you may want to activate Safe Mode when using these items.
Display Items
This lets you control which items X-Update can display. For example, you might only be interested in downloading new plug-ins, in which case you can clear the ticks beside 'Show Wizards items' and 'Show Applications'. Note: If you disable Plug-ins and enable Wizards, you may find that some of the wizards do not work once they have been downloaded. This is because some of the wizards rely on extra plug-ins which have to be downloaded.
Show items that are marked "Already Installed" also
If you have already downloaded and installed some of the plug-ins or wizards that are available, by default X-Update doesn't show them in the list, since they don't need to be updated. However, if you download a plug-in or wizard and it doesn't work, this may be due to a corrupted download, in which case you may want to reinstall it. Therefore, enabling this option may be useful.
This lists all the places on the internet where X-Update can download files from. The official Xteq Systems download is located at http://user.aol.com/ojatex/plugins/plugins.csv , but other members of the Xteq Systems staff and third-party authors may set up their own download archives elsewhere, in which case you can type the URLs for their archives here. Note: all URLs must end with ".csv", otherwise X-Update cannot retrieve the file lists.
